FAQs
I see clients both online and in person. My office is located on the Upper West Side but I see clients via telehealth, anywhere in New York and New Jersey.
Therapy can be like dating, sometimes it takes a while to find the right match. For this reason, I offer a complimentary 10-15 minute consultation to get to know each other. If you’re ready to take that step, click here and we can get started.
Therapy is meant to be a safe environment and at the same time it is designed to challenge your thoughts and behaviors. I am here to validate your lived experience, and also, to help you discern what you could do differently to improve your situation. This is a collaborative process and every therapeutic relationship differs depending on individual needs and willingness to be vulnerable.
If you think therapy is not working for you, let’s talk about it. Therapy can be tailored to your individual needs, and if I’m not the right therapist for you, I can help you find a suitable replacement.
Everyone’s circumstances are unique, and the length of time therapy can take dramatically varies based on your desire for personal development, your commitment to the process, and the factors that are driving you to seek therapy in the first place.
If you are concerned about your relationship and your partner is willing to come, I would want to see both of you together for at least the first session.
Medication can be very helpful for some people, almost always in conjunction with talk therapy. However, medication alone cannot solve emotional problems.
I do not take insurance, but I do provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance provider. Reimbursement may cover some or all of the costs related to mental health services.
Some suggested questions when contacting your insurance provider:
- Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits? Make sure that you specify out-patient and out-of-network benefits.
- Do I have an annual deductible for out-of-network services? If so, what is it, and have I met it yet?
- Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
- Do I need written approval from my primary care physician for services to be covered?
If you are unable to attend a session for any reason, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be charged for the full rate of the session. This applies to all therapy sessions, including teletherapy.
